| Ellen's Place is whatever strikes my fancy... hopefully you will see something here that strikes your fancy too! It's a potpourri of varied interests, with attention given to simple and pleasing design. These pages are best viewed using Netscape or Microsoft browsers. It is highly recommended that you set your videocard to display more than 256 colors, if possible. I was a working graphic artist for many years, and have had a passionate interest in photography since my teens. I hope you enjoy your visit...and please, do visit again...things are always changing around here. Just can't seem to leave it alone. If you would like to comment, send e-mail to: jellenc@ionet.net...always enjoy hearing from others out there in cyberspace. If you don't like cats then you might want to pass on Toby's Place. Of course there is a picture of Toby (later known as the Cat from Hell), and also one of his friends, Calvin in Dallas. Speaking of Dallas, all the good links for what to see and do in the Metroplex, you'll find here. Avoid the traffic, visit electronically. The Graphics Resources section is full of links to tools and ideas for the desktop publisher and graphic artist...some of the best from the net. All those thingy's (buttons, bars, etc) for creating homepages are located in the huge "potpourri of links" section, under the Internet category. Photography Resources has been added for the photographer, beginners or professionals, to help find information on the web. potpourri of links. I'm no longer am keeping this updated so there are plently of dead links. It just got to be too much of a burden. Through the years I've taken 1000's of pictures, and a homepage is a great way to share my work with many people. Here you will find many galleries of my photographs and art work. Hope you enjoy them. Well I finally got around to doing something on the local scene. The Oklahoma City Myriad Gardens and Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory (Boy!...that's a mouth full) is one of my favorite places to visit. This is a photo essay of the Garden that is located right in the middle of the downtown area. Rafting the Colorado River is a personal account with photos taken during a 10 day trip through the Grand Canyon in Arizona. Seeing it from the top is one thing, experiencing it from the bottom another. On May 3, 1999 the strongest tornado in recorded history hit a few block from my home. A couple of days afterward I went on a walking tour around the neighborhood. You can see the pictures I took, and my comments here. Well this may be where we part ways. I've become increasingly concerned after 911 about the direction this country is taking, and have always considered myself a progressive in outlook. There are just too many things happening that I can no longer remain silent about! If you are a stance conservative you may find some of my links in the World Issues & Opinions offensive. I make not apologies for that. In addition there are two articles here War is a Racket. written in 1935 and The 14 Points of Facism, both articles seem to be pertinent in today's world. After searching the net I found little information on, or pictures of Amelia Earhart. Maybe she was not the best woman pilot of her day, but she certainly had a lot of guts and courage to tackle some extremely daring and dangerous missions...the last one, claiming her life. The mmmmm' girl, Marilyn Monroe in all her glory!...and a biography to go with it. Many pictures are included as well as a list of her movies, and links to popular Monroe sites. Georgia O'Keeffe, the life and works of this great American artist. I've included a number of her paintings as well as photographs of O'Keeffe, from the early to her later years. who was...Ayn Rand?, a biography of this great 20th century philosopher and writer, author of Atlas Shrugged, The Fountainhead and other notable books, and creator of Objectivism philosophy The World of Gertrude Stein biography of this early 20th century writer..."a rose is a rose is a rose is a rose", need I say more? Since I'm an Okie, I learned about Will Rogers in school at an early age. If you never heard of him you're probably not alone. But I bet if you take a look at his page you will find some familiar quotes, like..."I never met a man I didn't like". Will was a vaudeville performer, movie star, journalist, and political satirist whose writings still ring true today. J.M.W. Turner - The First Impressionist ,1775-1851, better known as just "Turner" was a forerunner to the French Impressionists. He also influenced Thomas Moran's painting style to a large degree. This is an artist who has been on my list of biography topics for a long time. Artist of the Mountains, Thomas Moran...his paintings of the natural wonders of the American West. One of America's greatest landscape artists. You will find an overview of the Artist, his work, and travels here. I had the pleasure of viewing the "Sacrament of the Last Supper" by Salvador Dali many years ago at the National Museum of Art in Washington D.C. While there, I purchased a 35mm slide of this magnificent painting, and would like to share it with you. Lastly, I have added a separate page for Colorado lore, legend and fact. Stories from the states colorful past, with a qwik facts and trivia section, Colorado Fourteeners - peaks over 14,000 feet, maps, links to other Colorado sites, and much more! The "Colorado" project is an ongoing effort to present a wealth of information about this state and it's history. That's it for now....other projects are waiting in the wings....enjoy!
